Additional skills

Soft skills are trained in workshops (see 4.2 for a list and appendix 5 for letters of support) and include female consulting, scientific writing, project management, scientific ethics, fund raising, leadership tasks, communication of research results to the public, and intellectual property issues.
These skills are important for a future scientific career. They also facilitate employment especially in consulting companies where a broad background in the interdisciplinary field and presentation/project management skills have been asked for. These positions mostly are filled now with geographists since they have better presentation skills. However, the hard-core natural sciences education of the new study program will enable the fellows to successfully compete.
