Study program Print
The integrative and innovative study program consisting of interdisciplinary lectures and courses, contributions to international scientific meetings and tight supervision is based on new lectures specifically offered for the PhD students. In addition, complementary modules of the newly founded interdisciplinary study course Environmental Sciences (Biogeowissenschaften ) and other courses (biology, chemistry, earth sciences) can be integrated into the program, especially for the qualification students coming in at BSc level. The lectures are carried out at least once a year, so that the follow-up generation of doctoral candidates can be fully integrated. The regular lectures will serve as a common working and discussion forum for the doctoral candidates, put the issued research subjects into the context of the program, guarantee a sequential examination of the research results and promote the rapid progress of the dissertations. All modules are held in English, so that national and international applicants are equally addressed and the lecture obtains an international character. Parts of these lectures are open to other students of the Friedrich-Schiller-University, in particular to the students of the new study course in Environmental Sciences. For the study program in detail please see “Accompanying curriculum ”.

For an overview, the requirements for one PhD student are listed (summing up to approx. 5 hours per week). The program will be run each year so as to allow all PhD students of following recruitments optimal access:
